Responsibilities

 

DIGIT is seeking a Wireless Network with a focus on Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) expertise  to support the design, implementation, monitoring, management, change management, software upgrades, problem/incident resolution, and root cause analysis of wired and wireless local area network (WAN/WLAN) equipment as part of a large technology refresh initiative. The individual will utilize tools to provide predictive heat mapping, onsite surveys utilizing Ekahau, and Cisco Prime Infrastructure. This includes supporting the implementation of Software-Defined Access (SDA) at Regional Office Buildings.  The Wireless Network SME will also be responsible for performing Level/Tier 3+ Network Architecting and Administration of Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), and Data Centers assigned by GSA. This opportunity is part of a larger digital transformation initiative aimed at providing flexible service delivery models using advanced, emerging technologies such as intelligent automation, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to complete GSA's shift to a fully digital experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing, implementing, and managing wireless local area network (WLAN) equipment as part of a large technology refresh initiative.
  • Coordinating the implementation of wired and wireless network equipment across hundreds of sites globally.
  • Provide predictive heat mapping and onsite surveys utilizing Ekahau to identify areas for optimization and improvement.
  • Utilize Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cisco Catalyst Center, Solarwinds, and other tools to monitor and troubleshoot the WLAN network in real-time.
  • Managing, monitoring, and optimizing the performance of existing WLAN networks across hundreds of sites globally.
  • Manage WLAN infrastructures to include access points (WAPs), wireless LAN controllers, and integrations into Software Defined Access (SDA) infrastructures.
  • Oversee and implement switch provisioning (configuration) and implementation across multiple sites, including coordinating cutover logistics and change management.
  • Establish network monitoring for newly installed and replaced equipment.
  • Support and operate Software-Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN) sites.
  • Support and maintain network equipment and configuration (routers and routing).
  • Manage the LAN/WAN routing protocol between the routers and perform port management, network capacity management (including planning and trending).
  • Utilize and implement network orchestration tools and techniques to facilitate automated and consistent configurations, management, testing, deployment, and operations of physical and virtual devices within the network.
  • Manage status, errors, and inbound and outbound traffic statistics of all routing interfaces, bandwidth utilization, and errors of all inbound and outbound LAN/WAN circuits.
  • Provides consulting services to members of the professional staff and to the customer in the analysis and design of data processing systems, management systems, scientific systems, and other related areas.
  • Makes technical decisions on kinds of data to be gathered and methods to be used in data collection and analysis.
  • Provides technical direction, guidance, and assistance to assigned projects, suggesting efficient approaches and methods for solving problems.
  • Develops analytical and computational techniques and methodology for problem solution.
  • Prepares and presents written and oral reports.
  • Prepares and presents proposals, or portions thereof, primarily in field of specialty 
  • Analyzes, diagnoses, and recommends solutions to complex problems.
  • Escalate issues to vendor and third-party entities, as necessary and directed by the Government.
  • Generates / updates network documentation in coordination with the onsite installation resources.
  • Work is performed under the general direction of a senior level manager.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and client personnel at all levels.
  • Produce knowledge base articles and SOPs.

Qualifications

Requirements:

 

  • Public Trust Clearance and ITILv4 Foundation Certification by start date.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 7 - 12 years of related experience.
  • Experience as a remote worker demonstrating time management and self discipline with cultural change management and Agile mindset.
  • Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments. 
  • Plans and leads major technology assignments. Evaluates performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project growth and success. 
  • Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments. 
  • May supervise others.
  • Design and develop solutions to complex applications problems, system administration issues, or network concerns. 
  • Perform systems management and integration functions
  • Proven ability to work independently in a full and/or partial remote environment with limited supervision and may supervise/lead others.
  • Possess the ability to communicate in both oral and written forms, demonstrating an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff as well as clients.
  • Maintain standard working hours per the DIGIT contract and to be available for meetings, and other collaborative efforts during working hours.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments with the ability to use practical experience and training to determine how to accomplish tasks.

Desired:

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional Wireless (CCNP Wireless) or Cisco Certified or Cisco Certified Internetwork Engineer (CCIE)
  • Proficient in configuring the following protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and Static routes.
  • Familiar with SD-WAN architectures such as VMware (VeloCloud)
  • Design network architecture for Software Design Access / Software Defined Networks, utilizing Cisco Catalyst Center.
  • Must be willing to work a variety of shifts, including holidays as scheduled.
  • Shall possess the ability to communicate in both oral and written forms, demonstrating an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff as well as clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments.
  • Familiarity with the following technologies: Active Directory, Windows, ServiceNow, Network Monitoring Systems (Solarwinds), Cisco Prime, LAN/WAN control protocols, Ansible, Service Now, Cisco Catalyst Center, Cisco ISE. 
  • Proficiency in the Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Chat, Meet, Docs, Slides, Sheets), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Slack, and ServiceNow.
  • Must be willing to work a variety of shifts, including holidays as scheduled.
